If you guys have been following me for a while, you know I’m pretty crazy about my morning routine.

Let me be clear – I do not like waking up early.

In fact, I believe in waking up naturally. Personally, I like to wake up to the sunrise. I’ve noticed my perfect sleep schedule is 12am-8am. This is just what my body naturally does, and I try to honor that.

Regardless of what time you get up, I think it’s important to have a specific morning routine that you follow. I’m telling you, your day will be 845543626x better. Seriously. ESPECIALLY if you have squirrel brain like me.

The Miracle Morning

Before I dive into my morning routine, I want to give a little shout out to a really amazing book that has inspired me to adopt this way of thinking.

As I said, I am not a morning person. It took baby steps, but now mornings are my fav!

If you haven’t already, get yourself a copy of The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. This book will change your life. It’s not just a handbook or a guide to crafting the perfect morning, it has a ton of other value to motivate you to be better. Seriously, it’s amazing.

“They say misery loves company, but so does mediocrity. Don’t let the limiting beliefs of OTHERS limit what’s possible for YOU.” – Hal Elrod
You can grab your copy here or start listening to the audio version. If you don’t have audible already, you can get two FREE audiobooks by clicking here.

My Personalized Morning Routine

If you read The Miracle Morning or listened to it on audible, then you know about the S.A.V.E.R.S. This acronym stands for “Silence, Affirmations, Visualizations, Exercise, Read, Scribe” This is Hal’s secret formula for success.

Because I’m me, I like to switch it up a bit and make it personalized to me.

Hydrate First

I want to dive really deep here, so you know exactly what I do. I think all of these little steps are so important.

You know how when you wake up in the morning feeling like you’ve been in a desert for 3 days desperately searching for water? Your body is the most dehydrated at night, so it’s important to replenish.

A lot of people grab for a coffee first thing. That’s okay, but try to get in like 20oz of water first.

Personally, I like to spice things up and drink Bonta water when I first wake up. I opt for their Vitality flavor most mornings because it starts my day off with a little burst of natural energy! If I’m hungover or feel puffy, then I grab Restore. If I’m feeling a little under the weather, obviously I chug Immunity.

The reason I drink these versus regular water is because they have way more nutrients than regular water, and I’m all about optimizing my energy.

Make The Bed & Stretch

Once I’ve chugged my water, then I make my bed. I used to laugh at people who made their bed. “If you’re just going to mess it up, what’s the point?”

When I make my bed, I just feel more put together. I don’t know, try it.

Then I do a couple quick stretches to get my body ready to tackle the day. Already, I’m feeling 10x more awake.

Coffee + Silence

I don’t really love to meditate, but I love being outside in nature. My coffee pot has a timer on it, so all I have to do is get out of bed and pour myself a cup. (I’m really lazy in the morning so I’m happy about this feature.)

Once I have my cup of coffee, I head outside to the patio just to soak in a few moments of silence.

Setting Intentions

Okay, so far I have gotten out of bed, chugged some water, made my bed, stretched, and drank coffee on the patio. This is maybe 20-30 mins into my routine. This process does NOT have to be long!

Anyway, moving on.

I think it’s important to start the day with intentions. This way, you’re crystal clear on what you’ll accomplish during the day. As I write them out, I visualize what my day will be like. I visualize me tackling everything, being happy, feeling accomplished, and what the end result of my daily efforts will look like.

My planner is like half planner, half intention setting, and half journaling. (Okay I know there can’t be 3 halves but you get it) IT’S AMAZING. It’s called the Transcending Waves Planner, and when you use the code “VIBES20” you get a discount. Just sayin’.

Movement

I’m not one of those people who feel good after a morning workout. In fact, I have a burst of energy and then I crash like an hour later.

Walking outside for 30 mins is what gives me little bursts of energy. (I like to do my full workouts at night)

By the time I’ve done everything above, my coffee has kicked in, I’m hydrated, and I’m motivated to take on the day.

Now, I know it says to read. I do try to read after my walk, but honestly, it doesn’t always happen. I personally enjoy reading in the bathtub before bed.

For me, it is important that I listen to an inspirational book or podcast to give me a little kick in the ass. So, while I walk I listen to an audiobook.

If you want to look cute while tracking your steps, check out Misfit. Specifically, the Misfit Shine 2. I love how you can mix and match the band colors! Right now, I’m really vibing my rose gold tracker and translucent laguna band.

I’ll be real honest, if I’m not wearing some sort of fitness tracker, I don’t get many steps in. So if you’re lazy like me, you need one! I appreciate that this one gives me points based on my activity because I’m highly competitive with myself and it makes me strive to be better on the daily.

You Do You Boo

I was a total hater of the Miracle Morning for a while, no lie. But that’s because I tried doing it by the book. My unemployable, crazy ass has a hard time following instructions. So if you’re like me, experiment with it!

And remember, this doesn’t have to be an entire thing. If you take 1 minute to do each of the “S.A.V.E.R.S” you’ll be amazed at how that little 6 minute difference makes you feel.
