I came to a realization recently. If you know me, you know that I’m passionate about helping women overcome anxiety and depression. I truly believe it is my life’s purpose. However, I realized that I don’t just want you to overcome anxiety and depression; I want you to feel passionate about your life.
How Depression Made Me Passionate About Life
For those of you who know parts of my story, you know my childhood was rough. I have struggled with depression for a long time. Depression and anxiety used to just be a piece of my identity. It was apart of me that I thought would always control me. While I do believe anxiety and depression are lifelong, I do think you can manage it to the point to where you really don’t notice it.
Overcoming Depression
For awhile, I was kind of in denial about my anxiety and depression. Once I finally woke up to the fact that I had a problem, I wanted to change it so badly. So, I started digging deeper. I started addressing all the things that got me there in the first place. This process was painful, as it woke up a lot of memories I had suppressed. After the pain though, came forgiveness and ultimately closure.
After one of my panic attacks, my boyfriend told me, “Babe, you’re going to get through this. Once you do, you’ll be able to tell others how to do it too.” I don’t know how he knew my purpose before I did, but my brain immediately woke up. In that moment, I knew I had to get through it. I had to figure it out.
Because if I didn’t figure it out, I couldn’t help other people figure out how to either. It really was as simple as that. Until that point, I didn’t feel like I had a purpose. Suddenly, life was exciting again!
Finding Your Purpose
I truly believe we all have a purpose. Purpose usually comes from pain. What have you been through, or what are you going through, that you could help others with? Become obsessed with finding the way out. Read books, listen to uplifting podcasts, and search techniques to overcome whatever it is. I guarantee there’s something you’re passionate about deep down within that if you focus on, you could not only change your mind, but change the fucking world.
