Who else has anxiety first thing in the morning?

I know I do.

As soon as I wake up, my brain floods with thoughts of everything I need to do. then, once it’s finished with that, it likes to remind me of all the things that could go wrong.

Though I have struggled with anxiety, I am learning to overcome it. I’ve been doing a new ritual in the mornings where I draw a card from my The Universe Has Your Back Card Deck and journal the significance it has on what I’m going through.

This has really helped me re-align every morning before I begin the day, so I highly recommend doing some sort of journaling in the morning as well!

Today’s Card

Today, I drew the card that says “I create mindful moments throughout the day, reminding myself that I am love and miracles are natural.”

This morning, I woke up with stress about talking well, about stress. (Ironic isn’t it?) The reason for this is that I’m so passionate about helping women take control of their mindset and live fulfilling lives. So, naturally, I worry about not giving enough value.

My card for the day got me thinking, “How can I create more moments of mindfulness?”

One thing I already do is have an affirmation reminder so that I get little boosts of positivity throughout the day. It has helped me a ton and I always recommend my clients do the same!

Another thing I do each morning is to write down the things I am grateful for.

I’ve noticed that most of my positivity rituals are done in the morning or right before bed because those are my high times for anxiety.

But what about the rest of the day? After some thought and research, I decided to add 3 more things to my day to allow me to get back into my own head and remain mindful and present.

3 Ways to be More Mindful Throughout the Day

  1. Unplug for a little bit each day. No texting, no e-mails, no Facebook. Spend some time in the present, and give yourself a break from constant communication and consumption of what’s going on in the world.
  2. Move your body. Take more walks or even just do some stretching! This helps you connect back to your body!
  3. Take deep breaths. Just taking a few deep breaths can get you back into the moment, and slow down your thinking.

Hope these daily actions help you as well. I’d love to hear from you, comment below with your rituals to maintain mindfulness!
